Mbaru Niang as one of the traditional houses for Manggrai people has been promoted at the world tourism exhibition in Spain Madrid.
Assistent Deputy of Tourism Development for the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Agustini Rahayu said that Indonesia Promoted Mbaru Niang in Madrid Spain as a form of government support in developing the tourism sector in East Nusa Tenggara Province.
The World Tourism Exhibition has been held in Madrid from 22 to 26 January 2020.
On this occasion Indonesia specifically made several tourist destinations in the province of East Nusa Tenggara as the main promotion.
Agustini Rahayu said beside Mbaru Niang, Indonesia had also promoted five other super priority tourism objects such as Lake Toba and Labuan Bajo.
In addition, the Komodo National Park and Wae Rebo were also promoted in an international exhibition in Madrid.
Mbaru Niang is one of the traditional houses of the Manggarai people.
In general Mbaru Niang construction is shaped like a cone with a roof that almost touch the ground.

Previously in 2012 The United Nations Agency in charge of culture gave the Excellence Awards to Mbaru Niang.
At that time UNESCO gave an award to the Rumah Asuh foundation who led the conservation project of a traditional houses in Wae Rebo.
The conservation project was led by Indonesian architect Yori Antar.
Mbaru Niang received an award from UNESCO after defeating 42 other candidates from various country.
