    The President of Indonesia Joko Widodo wants tourists who come to Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara to stay longer.

    “ Premium tourism area means we expect there to be differentiation from other places (tourism), we expect here to spend more, stay longer, we expect it,” President Jokowi said after chairing a limited meeting on the topic "Development of Labuan Bajo Priority Tourism Destinations", at the Plataran Labuan Bajo hotel, NTT on Monday (20/1)

    The meeting which took place on the coast of the Flores Sea was attended by Minister of Tourism Wishnutama, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, and Minister of BUMN Erick Thohir.

    “This means not the number of tourists, but spending more. About that, "said President Jokowi while targeting the runway at Komodo Airport in late 2020 can be widened and extended.

    No less important is the availability of clean water in the location around the sea.
    "So it will be added 100 million liters per second for clean water, there will be a big addition later, it has also been prepared by the Ministry of Public Works".

    "Everything is detailed, we come here to see more detail directly, including 'landscaping', both on land and at sea everything will be planted with flamboyants, tabebuya, bougenvile," explained the President.

    West Manggarai Regency Tourism Office, as a district that houses Labuan Bajo, NTT recorded the number of tourist visits to Labuan Bajo during 2019 increased when compared to 2018.

    In 2018, the number of tourist visits to Labuan Bajo reached 163,807 people, while in 2019 it increased to 184,206 tourists

    The result is that in 2018 the West Manggarai Regional Original Revenue from the tourism sector specifically for the cost of retribution reaches Rp34 billion and in 2019 an increase of about 100 percent or Rp60 billion
